Road Cycling in the Summer Olympics Has a Long History

Road cycling was on the program for the very first of the modern Olympics, the 1896 Games in Athens. The sport wasn't part of the next three editions, but reappeared for the V Olympiad in Stockholm in 1912. It wasn't added for women until much later. Some form of cycling has been a part of every one of the modern Olympic Games.
